It is with sadness I read a report today of a few people who claim to have taken photos or film of Tony Scott, the film director, walking off the bridge and committing suicide.
We live in a sick society, it must be said. Who in their right mind would pull out his/her camera to film or take photos of some person about to jump of a building or bridge for taking their own life?
You would think any sane person’s first thought would be to try any way in which to deter that person from taking their own life, rather than standing there gawping and taking photographs or film. But no, this is the 21st century we live in. Nowadays, morality very rarely comes into it. The first one to make a quick buck, or to gain instant fame, is the winner.
And to top it all, it seems that those people who have the film are actually going from place to place to see who will pay the highest amount of money for exclusive rights to the material.
Shame on those people and shame on our society. I would rather live amongst a tribe of Neanderthal cavemen than in our so-called civilised world.
