There’s a place in BC that still has that unmistakable aura of the old 60s hippy days, those carefree days of love, loving and being at peace with everybody everywhere.
That place is called The Drive…..the real name being Commercial Drive of course! Here you will find 1001 eateries, catering for almost all tastes, with Italian, Greek, Hispanic, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, East Indian as well as contemporary western cuisines.
Also here are lots of unique and special shops, selling books, artifacts, vintage clothing, jewelry, hobby items, and lots more.

On the other hand, if you don’t want to buy anything but just want to savour the lifestyle here, feel free to pop into any of the many independently owned coffee shops, grab your chosen drink, and sit for as long as like, watching the world go by.
Many a time, there are celebrations here. We have an Italian day, a Greek day, a Chinese day, an East Indian Baisakhi day, as well as other festivals. Free food is given away on these festival days, and the fun just never ends. Everyone is made to feel part of the scene.
This kind of setting is getting increasingly rare in our modern, egoistic cities. Here you are free to set yourself free….no-one cares what you are wearing or what label. Come as you are, and join in the fun!
Very definitely my kinda place! Why don’t you come down and check it out this spring or summer?
