I know a lot of people moan about the cost of monochrome film, especially the types that are highly rated or have special characteristics.
As I have mentioned before, it as easy as pie to solve that problem…just buy a film loader and purchase your particular type of film in bulk and load it into your film cassettes yourself…the cost comes down dramatically compared to buying film individually.
Anyway, I digress. This post is to let you know about a fabulous new film called Rollei Blackbird.
It’s manufactured in what was the old Agfa factory in Germany and as such, comes with high quality built-in.
I am able to offer this superb film pre-loaded into a single use camera; you take your shots and give the whole camera back to the processing lab, who throw the camera away and process your film for you.
But a little more about this stupendous film. It’s a very special high contrast film, rated at ISO 25 or ISO 100, and allows you to obtain very deep mid tones and very rich, deep blacks, in a way many other top quality films cannot match.
You can process the film however you want; I always experiment all the time, using different chemicals, time periods etc…you never know what you will get….that’s half the pleasure of using film; but ID11 and D76 gives very good results if you don’t feel like chancing it!
This film will appeal to users who don’t have a film camera, or who don’t wish to use their normal film camera…and all for little more than the price of a regular well-known established 35mm film.
