I don’t know if you remember, not too long ago, when you had to do everything manually. Like if you wanted to find out information about suppliers, traders, organizations etc, you had to go to your local library, pull out several trade journals and wade through them till you found whatever you needed.
If you wanted to call someone, you looked through your Rolodex or diary to find their number. If you were in town or a new city or place and wanted to contact your loved ones, you had to find a pay phone, find the right coins and then make your call. You could not be contacted every single minute of the day, neither could you just call your friends or relatives at any time of day without finding a phone first.
And to contact somebody properly, you had to write a letter, find a stamp, post it, wait at least 7 days for a reply and then decide what to do…there were no fax machines or emails.
In some ways, even though I regularly and vehemently blast technology, it has made all those tasks so very much easier…I’m not afraid to admit that!
