Aside of cameras, another of my dreams….

There’s no running away from the fact that my main love in life, aside of life itself of course, are cameras and film.

Sometimes I tell my wife, who is deeply religious, that if I were reincarnated a thousand times, I’d still build up a camera collection every single lifetime! As for reincarnation, I’m one of those guys who doesn’t believe in anything till he sees it with his own eyes….yes, ok there are many things we cannot see with our eyes but they are nevertheless there….I don’t know….like the wind, pain, fear, hunger…all invisible but very much real.

But reincarnation….religion…belief….it’s a totally different kettle of fish, as they say, isn’t it? It may all be true…but then again, it may just be a story…who knows…nobody has seen anything quantitatively and come back with irrefutable proof, so….I will keep sitting on the fence…..

Anyways, I digress….aside of cameras, if there is one dream, among many, it’s to own a VW Camper bus….yeah, you know the one….think back to your hippy days in the 60s, when everyone used to be seen driving them, painted in gay (oops..!) colors and flowers, remember?

To me, a VW bus is just the epitome of a travel-everywhere vehicle. I know you can buy better, bigger, more powerful all-terrain vehicles, SUVs, trucks etc. but none of them has the same charm.

Yes, the VW is as slow as a snail…driving uphill can slow you down so much that your passengers may just decide to get out and walk, overtaking takes hours, but for sheer driving pleasure, it just can’t be beat.

And there are a plethora of dealers specialising in repairing, converting and jazzing them up to whatever standard you want….seems like the only deciding factor is how much cash you have in your pocket!

Whenever I bring up the subject of buying one, the wife suddenly goes a very deep red in the face…funny that…I wonder why…

And even worse….if I mention that one day, I’ll pick her up from work in a VW bus…she starts on a lecture along the lines of “…that’ll be over my dead body…..”

Ah….the VW Camper bus… dream!

ME & MY PASSION! ok, you probably looked at the length of this "about me" page and thought, god, what's wrong with this guy!....does he have to start telling us his life story or something!!? well, youve come here now anyways, so why not hear what im like as a person, eh? ive been using film cameras for well over 30 first one being the family yashicamat twin lens! over the years, ive both bought sold and collected film cameras...too many to tell the truth! in fact, ive been buying and selling cameras well before the internet came on the scene, so anything you purchase from me is backed by my self-styled moneyback promise.....if you dont like what youve bought, send it back within 14 days and you get all your money arguments!! You are not the only one with that dream.

My parents left professional jobs and retired early taking my Dad’s out in one lump sum, my Mom’s over time. I think it was crazy fun for them, bought a cottage on Lake Erie after selling suburbia out and buying a Transvan. They crisscrossed the country, Mom would send postcards to my kids and they claimed they were in all of the 48 connected states! Wonderful since Dad got a stroke at age 64 and cancer at 69 so it was a short but valuable lesson to us all, live and die FREE! Great dream and I like it better than opening a camera shop!

    •, no, no, robin!
youve dashed my top dream by saying that (“better than running a camera shop”..!!) LOL.
the camera shop venture, i am hoping, will somehow bring in enough cash to fund itself as well as my lifestyle, which is fairly simple really….i dont drink at all (well, i used to drink when i was at university, but found it so damn awful tasting, that i never went back to it again..!), dont smoke etc….my only vices are of course cameras, and lots of walking or hiking in the wilderness areas, or whats left of them….that and ladies in red stilettos hehe…only joking!
but seriously…how right you are…we all need to live and enjoy whatever we want to….heaven knows whats around the corner….i think i mentioned here sometime ago about my brother-in-law….only 44, full of energy and laughter, died of stomach cancer suddenly last year…just before we were thinking of making a trip overseas to meet him….the type of cancer he had, only makes itself apparent when its too late to do anything about it….so, yes, glad to hear your dad and mom enjoyed themselves to the full…
